Your Consultations

Full medical history and examination

For us to fully understand your complaint and treat it, it is important that we conduct a full physical examination. This includes appropriate orthopaedic and neurological tests whereby muscle strength, nerve function and joint function, as well as body balance and alignment are determined. We will then be in a position to establish problem areas and identify the source of the complaint. Once we have diagnosed the problem, we will formulate a treatment plan based on the condition of the patient.

Your first consultation (approx. 1 hour) will consist of a full medical history and examination as well as treatment for your specific condition/complaint. Thereafter, each follow up appointment will take approx. 30 - 45 minutes depending on the individual. The follow up treatments are dependent of the individual and their body’s response of the initial treatment.

If needed, you may be referred out for X-rays or additional screenings. Please remember to bring any previous X-rays or scans along with you.

Spinal Curvature Rehabilitation Program

Scoliosis treatment

To improve the scoliosis treatment experience for patients, further investment has now been made in developing specific exercises for use alongside chiropractic treatment. Each exercise program it uniquely tailored to fit the patient personally in terms of curve type, strength level, flexibility and mobility. The one-on-one sessions are 30-45 minutes each. The patient is required to attend the sessions once a week for the first 12 weeks of treatment, then once a month for the next three months and then once every 3-6 months etc depending on the patient’s progress.

The continuous rehabilitation of your scoliosis is paramount in the treatment. You may become discouraged as you don’t always see results straight away. In fact, often results are not visible initially. One thing we want to emphasise is that patience is a virtue with this treatment. The way this treatment works is to dynamically correct the scoliotic curve without invasive surgical procedures which can leave a patient in a form of disability for the rest of their life. We work together with the body’s normal physiological changes to train the body to become correctly aligned. The changes will be slow and sometimes not noticeable at all until far long in the treatment. We emphasise the importance of maintaining and complying to your rehabilitation exercises for your optimally corrective spine to be achieved.
