What chiropractic is:
Chiropractic is a health profession specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the nervous system and general health. Chiropractic is a natural method of health care with the proven ability to relieve back pain, increase vitality and promote well-being. For over a century, doctors’ of chiropractic have successfully helped millions of individuals recover from spine-related health problems. As a result, chiropractic has earned its place as the largest drugless and nonsurgical health care profession. Chiropractors are educated as Primary Contact Physicians and are therefore trained (from an extensive 6-year master’s training program) to thoroughly assess and diagnose their patients before deciding whether the patient is suitable for Chiropractic care or needs to be referred to an appropriate healthcare provider.
Chiropractic Education and Training:
Chiropractors are Doctors of Chiropractic. Having trained for 6 years, they are required to continue to update their knowledge and attend vital chiropractic seminars. To practice legally as a chiropractor in South Africa, chiropractors must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA). The Chiropractic Association of South Africa (CASA) is the professional body representing over 90% of registered chiropractors in South Africa.
How chiropractic works:
As a natural and complementary healthcare solution, chiropractic works first to understand the cause and source of your complaint. Chiropractic treatment involves safe, gentle and specific adjustment of the spine and other areas of the body to facilitate correct movement of a joint.
